We continue to use Schoolcafe.com to help facilitate a la carte purchases, and/or the purchase of additional items by students.  A student may only purchase a la carte and/or additional items if they have a positive account balance, and/or with cash.  Schoolcafe.com provides beneficial features including:

• Viewing your child's cafeteria account balance
• Reviewing daily spending and purchases
• Accessibility from any computer 24/7
• Low balance email reminders
• Automatic payments

The convenience fee for cafeteria account deposits will be 5% of the deposited amount within a single transaction. Example: Deposit is for $20.00, the total amount charged will be $21.00. This transaction fee is ONLY if you are using the on-line pre-payment system, not if you send in cash or check.

You do not have to use this system to put money on your child's lunch account, you may still send cash or a check to school with them; this is just another convenient way for parents to put money on their child's school lunch account.

If a child has been determined by a doctor to be disabled, and the disability prevents the child from eating the regular school meal, the school will make substitutions prescribed by the doctor. If a substitution is needed, there is no additional charge for the meal.  Please view the Pennsylvania Department of Education’s (PDE) Children with Disabilities and Special Dietary Needs information form and the Medical Plan of Care for School Food Service application. After having the Medical Plan of Care for School Food Service application completed by a state recognized medical authority (licensed physician, physician’s assistant, certified registered nurse practitioner, or dentist) please email it to foodservices@cciu.org. 

Substitutions for students who have a special dietary need, but do not meet the definition of disabled, can also be accommodated (i.e., food intolerances). For example, lactose free and/or soy milk is available for those students with a non-disabling special dietary need such as milk intolerance. A substitution can also be accommodated due to cultural, religious or ethnic beliefs. Special dietary requests are also made by completing Medical Plan of Care for School Food Service application. In this instance, parents may complete the application; however, depending upon the request, the application may need to be completed by a state recognized medical authority. Community Eligible Program (CEP)

All students who are enrolled at the Child and Career Development Center are eligible for free breakfast and lunch because of our participation in the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) for the 2024-25 school year. No action is required for participation. Every student is eligible.

Find Summer Meals in Your Community

Summer meals for children and teens are being served in your community. Find a nearby site by completing any of the following actions:

• Text "FOOD" or "COMIDA" to 877877
• Download the RangeAPP in Google Play or in the App Store
• Visit the Food and Nutrition website.

Summer Electronic Benefit Transfer (EBT), Issuance for Summer 2025

The SUN Bucks program allows families of eligible children to receive nutrition benefits on either their state EBT account or a SUN Bucks EBT card to purchase food outside of school.  A student is automatically eligible for 2025 SUN Bucks in either of these scenarios:

1. Attended a National School Lunch Program/School Breakfast Program (NSLP/SBP) participating school in 2024-25 and qualified for free or reduced-price meals.

2. Did not attend an NSLP/SBP participating school in 2024-25 but is on the state’s directly certified (DC) list and is of compulsory school age (6-18).

The Pennsylvania Department of Human Services (DHS) will be working with the Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE) to identify eligible children and issue EBT cards/payments.  For more information please:

Refunds

Donation Request: A request to donate the fund balance to benefit a student in need, or to the Food Service Program; a written request must be submitted. An e-mail request is also acceptable and may be sent to foodservices@cciu.org.

Withdrawn Students: For any student who is withdrawn, a written request for a refund on account balances of $5.00 or greater remaining in their account must be submitted. An e-mail request is also acceptable and may be sent to foodservices@cciu.org.

Graduating Students: For any student who is graduating, a written request for a refund on account balances of $5.00 or greater remaining in their account must be submitted. An e-mail request is also acceptable and may be sent to foodservices@cciu.org.

Funds can also be transferred to a sibling’s account with a written or verbal request.

Unclaimed Funds: All refunds must be requested within one year. Unclaimed funds will then become the property of the Chester County Intermediate Unit Food Service Program.

Return Check Policy

Personal checks are accepted at all CCIU buildings and cafeterias. Should a check be returned from the bank for whatever reason, a $25.00 returned check fee will be assessed.
Upon receipt of the returned check, you will be notified and informed that you have ten days to make restitution, including any related fees. Payment for a returned check must be received in the form of cash, cashier's check or money order. A personal check will not be accepted as repayment for a returned check.
After two returned checks, CCIU will no longer accept checks as a form of payment.
